I grew up about four miles from Huntington Beach so this beach will always be “home” to me. My wish for a warm Christmas came true. It was close to eighty degrees each day and on the day after Christmas, with all the hoopla over, we made it to the beach. I felt so comfortable, like I never left.
It was an exceptionally clear and bright day due to the Santa Ana winds blowing for a couple of days prior to our arrival. Catalina Island was easy to spot even at 22 miles away.
The surf had been high for a few days as well, but now it was almost flat. The surfers waited for waves on their long boards.
Saying goodbye again was hard, but we will be back…
